Mr. Sean Bailey

Sean Bailey is a producer, entertainment executive, screenwriter, and entrepreneur. He is the former President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, a role he served from 2010 - 2024. In that capacity, Sean oversaw all aspects of live-action development, film production, and physical production for Walt Disney Pictures. During that period, Disney live-action films grossed in excess of $16B at the worldwide box office and Disney was #1 in worldwide box office from 2016-2022, including the year 2019 which was the most financially successful in any studio's history. Films from Bailey's team include The Jungle Book, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Mary Poppins Returns, Aladdin, The Finest Hours, The Lion King, Cruella, and The Little Mermaid. Bailey also oversaw the Disney films for the streaming service Disney+, which launched in 2019. Disney+ films include Hamilton, The Beatles: Get Back, Ice Age: The Adventures of Buck Wild, Chip n' Dale: Rescue Rangers, Rise, Hocus Pocus 2, Togo and World's Best.
Prior to joining Walt Disney Studios in 2010, Bailey produced Disney's film Tron: Legacy in tandem with other media, ranging from the Grammy-nominated RIAA Gold-certified soundtrack by Daft Punk to a multiplatform video game and the Disney XD television series Tron: Uprising. In 2008, he founded Idealogy, Inc., with a focus on the evolution and future of creative content, developing high-quality stories that can live across media.
Bailey worked as a writer-producer under an exclusive deal with ABC Studios from 2004 to 2008, during which time he continued in his capacity as Chairman and board member of LivePlanet, the company he co-founded in 2000 with Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Chris Moore. While at LivePlanet, he executive-produced the innovative LivePlanet/HBO/Miramax series Project Greenlight, nominated for three Emmy Awards, and co-created the LivePlanet/ABC series Push, Nevada with Affleck, among other projects.
His feature film producing credits include Disney's Tron: Legacy, Miramax's Gone, Baby, Gone, Matchstick Men, The Core, The Emperor's Club, and Best Laid Plans. His screenplay, Solace, co-written with Ted Griffin and starring Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell, was released in 2016.
Bailey is currently producing the film Tron: Ares for Walt Disney Studios which will be released on October 10, 2025.
Bailey serves as the Vice Chair of the Sundance Institute Board of Trustees and is a member of the Caltech Board of Trustees.
