New Trustee: Mr. Gideon Yu

A distinguished technology executive, venture investor, and sports leader, Gideon Yu is the Co-Owner and former President of the San Francisco 49ers, where he became the first person of color to serve as president of any team in the history of the National Football League. He is best known for his work as Chief Financial Officer of both Facebook (now Meta) and YouTube, the first two social media platforms to surpass one billion active users. At Facebook, he led the investment round from Microsoft and Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing at a then record-setting valuation for social media companies. At YouTube, he negotiated its sale to Google amid a highly competitive auction.

Gideon is the founder and Managing Partner of Series X Capital, a venture capital firm in exclusive partnership with Alphabet's Google X, The Moonshot Factory. Earlier in his career, he advised and invested in the early stages of numerous unicorn technology companies. As a General Partner at Khosla Ventures, he led the founding investment in Jack Dorsey's Square (now Block) and served as its first outside board member.

Gideon serves on the National Board of Directors of the PGA of America, one of the world's largest professional sports organizations, with over 30,000 members. The PGA of America administers tournaments including the Ryder Cup and the PGA Championship. He is also a member of the Boards of Trustees for the Society for Science and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. His appointment brings extensive experience spanning finance, technology, venture investing, sports, and science-focused philanthropy to the Board.

Gideon earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
