A respected leader at Citi who guided numerous businesses through transformational change, as CEO of Citi Enterprise Payments she launched three successful platforms for mobile, digital, and online commerce as well as the healthcare sector. She is now bringing her commitment to principled governance and innovation to the Board of Directors of Borg Warner, Franklin Templeton ETF Funds, and Fortress Net Lease REIT.

McWhinney has contributed her strategic, financial, and developmental expertise towards disciplined growth on more than 20 boards including publicly and privately held companies and scientific institutions. She serves on the Boards of Trustees for the Institute of Defense Analysis and the California Institute of Technology, where she is an Inaugural Member of the latter's Space Innovation Council as well as a member of the Advisory Board for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Appointed by President George W. Bush, she served on the Board of Directors of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) from 2002-2007.

McWhinney has significant expertise in Cyber management and IT/Operations transformation. She was the inaugural Chair of Lloyds Banking Group's Cyber and IT Resilience Committee where she worked closely with regulators and law enforcement to significantly improve the Group's position. She was on CalTech/JPL's Special Committee for Cyber Threats. Her expertise in IT transformation helps companies improve their infrastructure and services by fast-forwarding their cloud and mobile delivery strategies.

She has led financial services businesses through times of growth and change. From 1979 through 1994 she held roles in Bank of America's Consumer and Corporate Divisions. Most notably she worked on global teams to get ATMs to work around the world, introduce debit cards in the US, and lead the integration of several major banks. From 1995 to 2000 she led the Visa International Y2K requirements effort. As President of Schwab Institutional, a division of Charles Schwab & Co., she guided the fastest-growing division of the company, providing operational and trading support to independent and fee-based advisors.

McWhinney is a passionate advocate for professional women as senior executives, board members, and business owners. As Co-Chair of the landmark Citi Women Initiative, McWhinney built an influential professional development program that led to improved training, talent management, and industry-leading client outreach. As a U.S. State Department Vital Voices Mentor, McWhinney has guided women entrepreneurs from China, South Africa and Vietnam on structuring and growing their businesses.
