Mr. Dennis Stanfill

Appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1945, Dennis Stanfill graduated in 1949 in the top one percent of his class. A Rhodes Scholar, he earned his MA from Oxford University in 1953. He returned to active sea duty and later served in the Foreign Affairs Section of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, where his duties at the Pentagon included regularly briefing the secretary of the Navy on international affairs.
After serving as vice president, finance, at the Times Mirror Company and as a corporate finance specialist at Lehman Brothers in New York, Stanfill in 1969 joined Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation in the newly created post of executive vice president–finance, and at the same time became a member of Fox's board of directors and executive committee. He was chairman and chief executive officer of Fox from 1971 to 1981. He then headed a Los Angeles private investment company specializing in investments, finance, and consulting, and later served on an interim assignment as chairman of AME Inc., a video postproduction company. He served as co-chairman and co-chief executive officer of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. in 1992–93. He currently manages his own firm, the Dennis Stanfill Company, which specializes in consulting and investment activities, particularly in the entertainment industry.
