Louise Kirkbride was in the first class of freshman women in 1970 to enter Caltech, from which she received BS and MS degrees in engineering. She was a member of Dabney House, and was the founder and CEO of two venture capital-based startups. In 1977, she was a finalist for the first group of civilian astronauts for the space shuttle. She was the founding chair of the Student Experience Committee and serves on other standing committees.
