Dr. Fariborz Maseeh
Elected 2021
Fariborz Maseeh has been a scientist and an entrepreneur. He is the founder and managing principal of Surlamer Investments, managing investments in private companies, a diversified portfolio of commercial and residential real estate, and several proprietary traded hedge funds. Surlamer funds several operating businesses for social causes including Kids Institute for Development and Advancement, a center for the treatment of children with autism and other related disorders.
Maseeh currently serves as a member of MIT Corporation and its chair of Sponsored Research visiting committee, member of board of fellows of Harvard Medical School, member of the engineering advisory boards at Viterbi School of Engineering at USC, the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science at Portland State University, and School of Engineering at MIT. In February of 2023, Maseeh was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
Previously he served as Oregon appointed member inaugural board of Portland State University, executive member of California Council of Science and Technology, Chairman of the Foundation Board of Directors of Children's Hospital of Orange County, member of UCI Foundation, and board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Boston.
His philanthropy has been through the Massiah Foundation which he established in 2001.
